Melynn Williams: Agent Spotlight
Fredericksburg, Texas real estate professional Melynn Williams was the only member of her family born in Texas… and that gives her bragging rights! She grew up scrappy since she has four brothers and no sisters, AND she was the first female born out of 18 births on her dad’s side. So you can be sure she knows how to hold her on when negotiating on behalf of her clients!
We were thrilled when we drew Melynn’s name for this week’s Agent Spotlight because she’s so down-to-earth and sweet. Combine that with a go-get-‘em attitude and you’ve got one impressive lady! We recently had the chance to sit down with Melynn for a laid back interview and were excited for you guys to get to know her better!
Where were you born and raised?
Born and raised in Atlanta, Tx - 1st baby born in Cass County in 1973!
What do you love about Fredericksburg?
I moved here from Dallas a little concerned that it would be a culture shock but I found that Fredericksburg has everything I am looking for in a place to call home. I love the fact that Fredericksburg is a true community with salt-of-the-earth people. The ability to maintain such a strong sense of community in a town that has seen huge changes with regards to tourism in the last 20 years demonstrates the fierce pride the people here have in preserving the core values Fredericksburg's foundation was built on I also love that there is never a dull moment - I have access to great art, music, theater, food & wine - none of which I would expect from a small town. AND...the landscape is breathtaking and for a hiker, that's the icing on the cake!
Where is the most favorite place you've ever lived?
I love my hometown - mostly the people there... but without a doubt - Fredericksburg, TX :)
Did you go to college and if where and when what did you study?
Yes, Baylor University and I got my degree in Nutrition Sciences.
How long have you been a real estate agent?
I got my real estate license in 2011.
What single event catapulted you into the real estate world?
I had been in property management with a company that was well known for their sales and marketing. Merchant builders hired our team to stabilize their assets and as always, time was of the essence. In addition to leasing, I transitioned into a leasing manager/sales training role and was asked to travel to different cities and states as new assets came into our portfolio or if there were developments that were struggling. I loved the challenge but I realized that what I loved most was the one-on-one time I had with clients looking for a new home. Real estate in this capacity was a natural progression that allows me to focus on helping people realize the dream of homeownership or transitioning to new chapters in their lives - like moving closer to the grandbabies ;)
What do you love most about being a real estate agent?
I touched on that a bit in the previous question but in addition to helping people, I love the fact that every day is different. It's always fun, exciting and challenging - and I LOVE meeting new people!
What challenges do you have in regards to being a real estate agent?
In my world challenges are opportunities. There are many opportunities in real estate but that's another reason I love it so much.
Why Absolute Charm?
Oh goodness... you're going to make me tear up! It was a hard decision. I was with my previous broker for 4 years prior to moving over and he is like my FBG dad and I am loyal to a detriment at times. Honestly, I knew if I ever made a switch I wouldn't go anywhere other than Absolute Charm. The marketing here is more in line with what I was accustomed to in my high-end property management days - FLAWLESS. What I didn't know was just how awesome the team is - we work hard but we have fun while we work hard. I am constantly being lifted up and challenged through training, goal setting, crazy fun contests and really holding a level of accountability to my team. It's been life-changing.
What are 3 favorite things you love most about Absolute Charm?
2) positive mindset
What motivates you to work hard?
Strong work ethic is instinctive to me...I've always had it. Real estate, however, pushed it to a new level. For most people, their home is their largest asset and its a responsibility that I hold in the highest regard. One of my favorite quotes I stumbled upon about 20 years ago is "Noone cares how much you know until they know how much you care", Teddy Roosevelt. It puts everything into perspective and keeps me focused on why I chose real estate.
I LOVE hiking - and when I'm not hiking I'm pretty low-key. I enjoy being with my friends, great food, music, art & travel.
